The Life of Lea Donica

A child gives light and happiness in a home and gives life to a couple. They say that there is nothing more precious than a gift that comes from above. March 08,2001, when I first witnessed the beauty of life and first seen a mother and a father with so much love in their eyes. A healthy baby named Lea Donica with a cute dimple on her cheek. My smile tells how happy I am with the family that God gave me.I was raised and loved by them, my mama Carmelo and papa Armando. Since I was born, they made me feel precious and do their best for me. When I was two years old, anoother member of the family that is sent by God were born, my younger brother named Cristian Carl, and he completes our family. I grow up with a complete and happy family and enjoys the sweetness of life with them. I am not from a rich family, but they became my living gems.
We sustain our needs by means of farming, my father is a very hardworking head of the family. Papa plants rice or palay for us to have an income twice a year. Seeing them working so hard makes me realize that my mama and papa is a perfect combination because my mama sells fruits from our garden just to help papa. Because of these two superhero’s of my life, I understand the value of each drop of sweat. But poverty is never a hindrance for someone to have a happy life. My childhood is extraordinary and amazing and is filled with a lot of lessons and adventure. Early in the morning, after breakfast all of the kids on our compouond gather in our backyard to do our favorite pass time. Diving in the haystock, collecting fruits from the neighbors garden, playing tumbang preso, chinese garter, molding kitchen utensils with the use of mud after a rain and arrive home very dirty.San Isidro, Cauayan City, Isabela, the place where I experience a happy childhood with my friends and with my parents who let me discover it. Growing up, happiness filled me and as I enter school, I met those people who also became part of my family. At first, I was questioning my mother why do I need to go to school and why not just spend the whole day playing with my friends, but then when I became more mature I already understand the essence of going to school. As I go to school, I also visualize what I wanted to be in the future and this help me to strive more and know to value the sacrifices of my parents just to send me to school. As early as elementary I already understand life and how it goes. I found my best buddies in school, my playmates and treated them as my real siblings. RC and two Cj, became my bestfriends, and I call them Cj boy and Cj girl. We do the same things together, take a break, share our food and walk through our houses. We sometimes play near the river before going home, and collect those what we call “kappe” or small crabs. My three years with them is filled with lot of memories, happy memories. But unfortunately I have to say goodbye to them because I will no longer enter the sane school with them.
I was in grade 3 when I transferred at Mallig, I was so sad that time and really missed them. But luckily I was able able to adjust on my new surroundings, school and friends. I also met friends like Cj girl, Cj boy and Rc in Mallig, they may not be the same in terms of looks, but my love for them is the same. A year passed, I am already in my 4th grade in elementary and I became more active in extracurricular activities. I joined the school paper organization, drum and lyre core group, volleyball team and joined different contested activities. We do not go to Cauayan for vacation regularly that is why I don’t get so much time to bond with them, but now we still catch up through chats. I graduated elementary as First Honorable mention, I was not able to wear colored graduation gown, I fail to make my dream come into reality but my parents made me realize that whatever I receive, I should be thankful for it was a gift from God. I come into many disappointments but because of their understanding I worked hard to make them more proud of me.

High school gives me a more thrilling adventure, each action must be equipped with responsibility because it is part of growing up as a teen. High school became my training ground, I became more responsible on my actions as I learned it inside the school. During examinations, my papa used to wake me up 4 am just to help me review, my papa is really a sweet father. He wakes me up and serve a rice milk that will help me focus on my review. Papa also cooks tinolang manok na native as my breakfast and lets me eat chicken wings and thigh which is my favorite. High school has a lot of difficulties but with their support in everything that I do. I can really say that my parents is very supportive in every activities that I join, we yearly take home the crown during the parent and child cooking contest in every category. People thinks that my parents are really strict but they’re wrong, my parents join me every time I attend scouting and they also bring their tents on the camp site. They are really caring and sweet, that is why I wanted to be like them, responsible, supportive and understanding. They are the reasons why I always worked hard because I wanted to make them happy and proud. I am now on my Senior High School, and only have three weeks before graduation. My life is not that perfect, we are not rich, we don’t live on a very big house but I have a very big heart with a very big gems inside, and they are my family.
I came to realize that money cannot buy happiness, only love can buy happiness. I will strive hard to reach my dreams and my dream is to make them happy and proud. I am not contented with my life, but I still aim to give them the best because they are really the best.

Mallig at its best!

A region in the Western part of the Province of Isabela, Mallig town was derived from the rolling terrains or kilometers of plain lands where the town was located. It was created by virtue of RA.No. 678 authored by the late Congressman Samuel F. Reyes. The act was approved on April 08,1952 and inaugurated on April 04,1953 with the former barrio Olango as the seat of governemnt. Years passed and Mallig now have 33,248 residents.

In my 10 years of stay in Mallig, I discover a lot of things about our humble town, our pride. Located in the Western part of Isabela, Mallig was known because of its “Nateng Festival” celebrated during hte first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month April as a thanksgiving to the bountiful and fruitful harvest of different vegetables including rice and corn. In collaboration with the town’s festival, the Local Government Unit requires the Malliguenos to have their own g”gulayan” at home, in schools and even in the barangay Comumunity Center. As a recognition, the LGU gives rewards to the selected individuals with the best gulayan such as fertilizer, seedlings and planting materials/tools. Mallig promotes healthy living as a part of the festival, Malliguenos also participate in deifferent festive activities such as Padyak (bycicle race), Zumba, Fun Run, Cooking Contest, Street Dance Competition, Drum and Lyre Core Presentation, Mallig Got Talent and the Search for Ms. Nateng Festical.

There is a continous development in Mallig with the help of the Municipal Mayor Engr. Jose P. Calderon with a battle cry “Serbisyog Totoo,Tunay na Pagbabago”.With the help of all Malliguenos, Mallig now have concrete Farm to market roads, New Public Market, Rescue Equipments, Buildings for Offices, Gymnasium, Installed CCTV and Street Lights, Health Care Facilities, Barangay vehicles and a peaceful community. Mallig undergoes continues development but still aims to give the Malliguenos a good life. All rthese will be possible because Malliguenos are known to be hardworking and Mallig is the perfect place to live in where you can find peace and happy faces.
